This is a one of a kind translation of the Yoga Sūtras, based not only on extensive research in South Asian Studies, but created in light of PhD dissertation research on the challenge of translating philosophy. The aim of the research was to account for how we can understand a text, such as the Yoga Sūtras, without projecting our biases on to what we read. The conventional views in the literature say this is impossible. Surprisingly, my dissertation thesis, and the solution I offer to the challenge of translating, derives from insights we find in the Yoga Sūtra.
